Dudley Barnard died from unspecified causes on 10th February, 1915, while serving with the Royal Field Artillery in France and after having been sent back to a base hospital on the coast but it is not known if he died from wounds or from illness, both of which took their toll of the men on the Western Front. 

30 Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery was a unit of Britain’s pre-war regular army and went to France in August 1914 as part of 3rd Division.
